They all seem like the next logical step in a series of decisions. So we trollop around the galaxy, picking up companions, and getting ready for an inevitable suicide mission.īut all those parts, when the game needed to railroad the player into the plot, felt natural. The problem is that TIM isn't a mastermind, he just seems to have read the script, and Shepard is never really presented with a reason to go rogue like Saren was.
I can see what they were trying to do with ME2's plot: it felt like they wanted Shepard to be a Rogue Spectre but couldn't really figure out how to make that seem plausible, so they killed the character and brought him/her back and in debt to a criminal Machiavellian mastermind. But I m still worried we will be left with some rough to bad world building, and nonsensical situations for the sake of drama.
Between the DLC for ME2 and 3 he has proven he has the ability to make some really interesting stories with awesome character interactions. Look I'm glad he is coming out and saying they have learned from the blowback from 3 and I am really happy he has a platform to make the story he wants and not try to finish someones else. Because if they did have a plan then maybe the plot of ME2 would have gone somewhere or been important at all, maybe they wouldn't have had to pull a Mcguffin out at the beginning of 3 to fix it, maybe we wouldn't have needed 2 DLCs to make the ending bearable. Hell the guy who made Mass Effect, Drew Karpyshyn, didn't know how this was going to play out when he left. Really because every article that came out when ME3 was still a shit storm was about how they had no idea about the story or ending until they wrote it. We knew that this was Shepard's story and it would end with Shepard, even though there's that slight chance that Shepard can still be alive at the end if you do it exactly right," "The ultimate ending of Shepard's sacrifice, that was something that was from the beginning.
